The Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is a leading research center in the world of computational sciences, material sciences and high performance computing. We have been developing a vigorous research program in Computational Biology focused on the national Genomes to Life Initiative-a major new project of the Department of Energy's Office of Science, and we now invite innovative, energetic scientists to join our creative environment at the crossroads of biology, physics and computer science. We currently have a number of opportunities for scientists in the following research areas:
To be considered, applicants must have an advanced degree in natural sciences (or an equivalent combination of training and experience) plus a strong demonstrated interest in bioinformatics, biophysics, molecular biology, and computational sciences. Proven ability in computer programming is essential.
- Construction and modeling of regulatory pathways in a microbial cell
- Molecular modeling algorithms for protein complexes characterization
- High throughput data mining approaches in the biological databases
- Development of collaborative tools for computational biology
